Upon your arrival in Addis Ababa, you will be greeted and picked up from the airport for a scenic drive to Awash National Park, located 230 km away in the Ethiopian Great Rift Valley. The journey will take you through stunning volcanic mountains and valleys, where you can witness freshly turned earth and lava formations flanking both sides of the road.
As we travel, we will make a stop at the picturesque Beseka Lake, a haven for birdwatchers. Here, you can observe a variety of avian species, including the pink-winged pelican, African fish eagle, and saddle-billed stork, among others. This area is also home to the nomadic Kereyu tribe, who often bring large herds of camels to the lake for water.
In the afternoon, we will continue our journey to Awash National Park, where you have the opportunity to embark on an exciting game drive. We will also visit the stunning Awash Falls, where you may encounter diverse wildlife such as Beisa oryx, baboons, lesser kudu, warthogs, gazelles, and colobus monkeys. If fortune smiles upon us, there might even be a chance to spot some of the park's elusive big cats.
Your day will conclude with an overnight stay at Doho Lodge, where you can relax and reflect on the day's adventures.
