Ethiopia Adventure

This morning, after breakfast, we will embark on our hike from Dinsho to Sodota. The journey will last for 6 to 7 hours, covering a distance of 18 kilometers through the stunning landscapes of the National Park. Along the way, we will pass through charming local villages, where we may have the chance to spot the rare and endangered Ethiopian wolf, as well as admire seasonal flowers and endemic birdlife.

We will enjoy lunch en route at one of the beautiful Habra waterfalls before continuing our trek to Sodota. Just before reaching our campsite, we'll have a fantastic opportunity to look for more endemic species, including the Ethiopian wolf and various unique birds. Our overnight stay will be at Sodota, where we can reflect on the day's adventures.

After breakfast at the camp, we will depart for a trek to Wasama Mountain, which will take approximately 5-6 hours. We aim to arrive in time for lunch. 

In the afternoon, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the stunning Wasama Valley at your own pace. This area offers our first chance to spot the elusive Ethiopian wolf, as well as raptors, rock hyrax, and endemic birds such as the blue-winged goose. Situated 4,000 meters above sea level, we will set up our overnight camp in Wasama. Meals provided include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

After breakfast, we will leave Wasama and embark on a trek through the next section of wilderness. As we walk, it becomes clear how the Bale Mountain massif was formed by a supervolcano long ago during the Ice Age. The glaciers have also played a significant role in sculpting the landscape. 

The journey between Wasama and Rafu truly highlights the volcanic influence, featuring incredible rock formations of basalt pipes and granite boulders that dot the high country. This stunning environment makes for an unforgettable trekking experience, lasting about 5-6 hours before we reach the Rafu campsite for our overnight stay. Meals included are breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The morning after breakfast, we leave the beautiful Rafu campsite and head towards the Sennet Plateau. As we journey, we may spot falcons, raptors, and possibly even the elusive Ethiopian wolf. The route takes us through stunning afro-alpine scenery and picturesque lakes on the plateau.

Upon reaching the plateau, we'll meet our vehicle and continue our drive to the Harenna Tropical Rainforest, the second-largest forest in Ethiopia. Here, we have the chance to spot the rare Bale monkey and immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the forest. We'll enjoy lunch in the heart of this lush environment before embarking on a game drive deeper into the forest.

After our exploration, we'll make our way back and settle in for the night in Robe town, where we will stay at one of the best accommodations in the area.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will leave the Bale Mountains and drive towards the southern parts of the country, heading to Arba Minch town. 

Along the way, we will make some stops to enjoy the scenery. The journey will take approximately six hours. Upon arrival in Arba Minch, we will transfer to one of the best hotels for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, we will embark on a boat trip on Lake Chamo, where we can witness some of the largest crocodiles in the world basking on the shores. The lake is also home to abundant hippopotamuses and a variety of aquatic birds. 

In the afternoon, we will take a short drive to visit the Dorze tribes, who reside on Guha Mountain. The Dorze are renowned for their exceptional cotton weaving techniques and their distinctive beehive-shaped houses, constructed entirely from organic materials. In their village, you will have the opportunity to see these unique beehive huts, observe their remarkable weaving skills, and learn about their rich traditions and way of life.

We will spend the night in Arbaminch at one of the best accommodations available.

After breakfast, we will embark on a boat trip on Lake Chemo, where we can marvel at some of the largest crocodiles in the world basking on the banks. The lake is also home to abundant hippopotamuses and diverse birdlife. 

Following our boat adventure, we will continue our drive to Turmi. On the way, we will stop at Konso Village to visit the renowned Konso tribe, famous for their agricultural terracing methods and wooden totems that honor the deceased. The Konso village is a UNESCO World Heritage site, recognized for its cultural significance, and is surrounded by high stone walls that encompass separate compounds.

After enjoying lunch in Konso, we will proceed further south through acacia forests to Turmi, a small center known for its vibrant Omo Valley tribes. The area is famous for its exquisite pottery and remarkable hairstyles. The women of Turmi are particularly striking, adorned in colorful beaded goat skins, ornate necklaces, and metal bangles around their wrists and ankles. These decorations signify the wealth and prestige of their husbands.

We will spend the night in Turmi at one of the best lodges in the area, ensuring a comfortable stay as we immerse ourselves in the rich culture of this fascinating region.

Start your journey in the morning by traveling towards Omorate, which is located 75 kilometers away on a well-maintained asphalt road. Here, you will have the opportunity to visit the Dassanech tribes, who reside along the banks of the Omo River, close to the border of Kenya. To reach the Dassanech villages, you'll cross the Omo River using a local boat and then continue on foot to explore one of their communities.

The Dassanech are semi-nomadic people whose clans extend across Sudan, Kenya, and southern Ethiopia. They are known for their distinctive ornate hair buns, as well as their agricultural practices and fishing skills. After your visit, you'll return to Turmi and continue on to Jinka for lunch.

Depending on the time available, you may proceed to discover the Mursi tribes through Mago National Park. The Mursi are one of the most well-known tribes in the region, famous for their women who practice lip stretching with clay discs and for their men who participate in traditional stick fighting rituals known as Donga. The Mursi are among the last tribes in Africa where it is customary for women to wear large pottery or wooden discs in their lower lips.

After exploring the Mursi village, you'll return to Jinka for an overnight stay at one of the best accommodations in the area. This journey promises a rich cultural experience and unforgettable encounters with these unique tribes.

After breakfast, you will transfer to the domestic airport for your late afternoon arrival. Depending on the time, we will take you on a city tour. Before your transfer to the airport, we will visit one of the most interesting traditional restaurants, where you can enjoy your final moments. 

Afterward, you'll be transferred to the airport, marking the end of your tour.
