Great Gobi and Central Mongolia

We will drive to Tsagaan Suvarga / White Stupa, which is located in Ulziit Soum, Dundgobi aimag. The name Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa) is given by local people to the impressive and legendary cliff which is eroded by natural phenomenon. Having 10 million years history, the cliff indicates different times by its colored layers. This place used to be an ocean in the Dinosaur age. Tsagaan Suvarga is interesting to see with its sheer slope, facing east, which from a distance seems to be the ruins of the ancient city. In the light of the sunrise and the sunset it looks absolutely different.

We will overnight in a home of a nomad family. This is a real chance to learn about a nomad life and also to be a part of it.

Ongi Monastery is situated at the border of Gobi and Central Mongolia. We will drive to Saikhan Ovoo which is a small village in the Middle Gobi province. Ongiin khiid (also referred as Ongi Monastery ruins) is an active small monastery with a temple which was built on the ruins of a monastery complex that was formerly one of the largest monasteries in Mongolia and founded in 1760 and consisted of two separate tempes complexes, Barlim khiid and Khutagt khiid, on the North and South of the Ongi Gol river about 18 km from Saikhan-Ovoo sub-provincial center, Dungobi province. After the sightseeing we will overnight in the camp.

Kharkhorin city, or Karakorum, was the capital of Great Mongolia Empire in thirteenth century. It is located on the right bank of the Orkhon river, 360 km south-west of Ulaanbaatar, which is the current capital of Mongolia. In 1380, Karakorum was destroyed. But approximately two centuries later, on the same site, there arose the yurt of Avtai Khan, founder of the Erdene Zuu Monastery. 

Kharkorin city is full of sightseeing. We'll visit the Erdene zuu monastery, the Khar kharum museum and the old city.

Overnight in the ger hostel.

Today, we will continue our tour of Kharkhorin city and visit the renowned Orkhon waterfall. This waterfall, which is located near the Ulaan Tsutgalan river, is ten meters wide and twenty meters high. It is a popular attraction for tourists due to its natural beauty. We'll ride horses along the river.

Overnight with a local family in a ger.

Hugnu Khan National Park is one of the best places for a ride a camel in the dunes.

We pay a visit to the Ovgon temple in the National Park.

Drive Back to Ulaanbaatar. On the road we'll visit the Hustai National Park.
